About Alfred Coco

Meet Alfred Coco, LMHC-D

You're looking for someone who actually gets what you're going through. Someone who won't make you feel broken or judge you for struggling. Men's mental health faces unique challenges in Sleepy Hollow and beyond, from pressure to "tough it out" to skepticism about whether therapy even works.

I'm Alfred Coco, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I work specifically with men because I understand the particular struggles you face. My approach isn't about sitting back and just listening. It's about providing real guidance while respecting that you're in control of your own process.

This matters because too many men have tried therapy and left feeling unheard, or like nothing has changed.

When You’re Tired of Pretending

My path to becoming a therapist started with a simple realization, too many good men were suffering in silence. I saw guys all around me carrying weight they didn't know how to put down. They were strong in every other area of life but felt lost when it came to handling emotions or relationships.

That observation led me to dedicate my career to understanding what actually helps men make real changes. Over two decades, I've learned that men don't need to be fixed, they need to be heard, validated, and given practical tools that work.

I've seen time and again that men are stronger and more capable than they often give themselves credit for. My job isn't to rescue you, it's to remind you of your own strength and help you use it more effectively.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy with me is focused on understanding, collaborative, and aimed at creating real movement.. I use proven methods to help you understand what's beneath the surface and shift what’s holding you back:

Validation Without Indulgence

Your emotions matter and deserve attention, but we won't get stuck wallowing in them. We honor what you're feeling while focusing on moving forward.

Challenge Without Judgment

I'll push you to examine patterns and consider new perspectives, but always with respect for where you are and where you want to go.

Practical Progress

Every session should leave you with something useful, whether that's a new insight, a concrete tool, or a clearer sense of direction.

Why I Do This Work

Men are often told to stay strong and keep it all together, even when they’re breaking down inside. I became a therapist because I saw what that pressure does. The work I do is about giving men a space to be real, without shame or judgment.

Why I Chose This

I didn’t plan to become a therapist, I kept seeing men suffer in silence. Men are often told they can open up, but then feel punished when they do. Real change begins when you have space to speak honestly, without pressure to perform.

Who I Help

From professionals to young men (14 and up) to exhausted fathers, I work with those tired of feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to show up in their lives anymore.

You don’t need to have all the answers to take the first step. Just showing up is a powerful start, and it means you’re ready for something different. Real change begins the moment you stop pretending you’re fine and start getting honest about what you need.

My Commitment to You

When you work with me, you can count on complete confidentiality and respect for your privacy.

I believe in meeting you where you are without trying to change who you are fundamentally. My commitment is to show up fully present for our work together, to continue learning and growing as a therapist, and to be honest with you about what I observe.

I take seriously the trust you place in me by sharing your struggles. That trust is sacred, and I'll never take it for granted.
