FAQs: Questions Men Actually Ask
You’ve probably got questions, maybe even doubts. That’s normal. These are the ones I hear most often from men who are unsure if therapy is for them.
If you can't find the answer you're looking for, don't hesitate to reach out to us directly
Is therapy just talking about feelings?
Not here. While we’ll talk, the goal isn’t just to vent. We look at what’s working, what isn’t, and how to change that. You don’t need to spill your life story on day one. You get to set the pace.
What kinds of problems do you help with?
Stress, anger, feeling stuck, relationship issues, anxiety, or just that sense that you’re “off” and don’t know why. If you’re tired of pretending everything’s fine, we can dig into that.
Do I have to come in person?
Nope. You can do sessions in-person in Sleepy Hollow, NY or virtually from anywhere in New York State.
How much does therapy cost?
Sessions are $180 each. I accept Anthem BCBS, MVP, Magnacare, Cigna, UMR, United Healthcare, and Oxford. If you use another insurance provider, I can give you paperwork to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. A 15-minute consultation is free.
Do I have to talk about my childhood?
Only if it’s relevant. We focus on what’s happening now, but sometimes the past helps explain how you got here. You’re in control of what gets shared and when.
Do you work with young children?
I work with teens ages 14 and older.
Do you work with men exclusively?
No. I focus on working with men because so many men struggle to find a mental health provider they feel they can connect with, but I do not only work with men.
Do you work with LGBTQ clients?
Yes. I welcome and support LGBTQ clients, including gay men. While this is not a specific area of specialization, I have experience working with gay clients and provide an affirming and respectful space for everyone.
